Policy

Unsolicited idea submissions

Effective 1 October 2025

Why this policy exists

We research and build across advertising technology, campaign intelligence, measurement, targeting and commerce. We generate a large volume of ideas internally and work in the same problem space as many of the advertisers, agencies and partners who talk to us. It is likely that something we build will resemble something somebody has sent us.

This policy exists so that nobody is misled about what happens to an idea they send us, so that resemblance never becomes a dispute, and so that anyone who wants real protection for an idea knows exactly how to get it before they part with it.

It is written to protect you as well as us. The sections below set out what we commit to in return, and how to put an agreement in place first if that is what your idea needs.

There are two routes, and you choose which one you are on

Invited work. Commissioned writing, an accepted contribution, a research collaboration, a brief, or anything else we have asked you for, runs under a written agreement settled before you start. That agreement covers scope, ownership, credit, confidentiality where it applies, data handling and payment where the work is work. Your rights are protected by it, and this policy does not apply.

Everything else is unsolicited, and the rest of this page governs it.

If you want to be on the first route, ask. Write to contribute@ravaki.com or legal@blowtrumpet.com before you send anything, and tell us what you have. We will either put an agreement in place or tell you honestly that we cannot — in which case you still have your idea, and you have lost nothing.

Scope

This policy applies to ideas, suggestions, concepts, proposals, creative materials, designs, specifications, campaign concepts, feature requests, product names and business plans submitted to us without a signed agreement covering them — through this website, by email, through the advertiser or affiliate communities, in meetings, at events, through social media, or by any other means by which we connect with our audiences.

It applies to material submitted to Ravaki and Blowtrumpet, to its other products, platforms, programmes and trade marks including Tejaki, Vedoki and State of Ads, and to its branches, offices, divisions, subsidiaries, associates, allied and sister concerns and group companies, whether presently in existence or established, incorporated or acquired at any time in the future, and to their officers, employees, contractors and consultants.

No responsibility for protecting unsolicited ideas

Neither Blowtrumpet Technologies, nor any of its product groups, platforms, programmes or trade marks, nor any entity within its group, accepts any responsibility for preserving, protecting or maintaining the confidentiality of unsolicited ideas submitted through this website or through any other channel by which we connect with our audiences.

If you choose to send us something anyway, the following apply.

1 · No confidentiality. Your submission is received on a non-confidential and non-proprietary basis. No confidential relationship is created by your sending it or by our receiving it, whatever your submission or covering message may say. We are under no obligation to review, acknowledge, keep, return or destroy it.

2 · No compensation. You are not entitled to any payment, royalty, equity, recognition or credit in respect of a submission, and no obligation of that kind arises from our use of anything similar.

3 · Licence granted. By making a submission you grant Blowtrumpet a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, transferable and sub-licensable licence to use, copy, modify, adapt, publish, distribute and commercialise the submission and anything derived from it, for any purpose and without restriction.

4 · Independent development. We may already be working on, or may later develop, something identical or similar, independently of your submission. Nothing here limits our right to do so, and we owe you nothing in that event.

5 · Your warranty. You confirm that the submission is yours to send, that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights, and that sending it breaches no obligation you owe to anyone else. You are responsible for any claim arising if that turns out not to be the case.

What we commit to you in return

These are obligations we take on, and they are the reason this policy is worth reading rather than skipping.

The licence is non-exclusive, so your idea remains yours. Nothing you send us stops being yours. You may use it, develop it, publish it, pitch it to somebody else, or build a business on it, with no reference to us and no permission needed. We take a right to use it. We do not take it away from you.

We tell you before you send, not afterwards. This policy is published, linked from every place that invites a submission, and written in plain terms for that reason.

You are never required to send us anything. No commercial relationship, application, rate, role or community standing depends on it, and declining to share an idea has no consequence anywhere.

We will not publish your submission or use your name. A submission is not published, quoted, shown to third parties or used in our marketing, and your name, organisation or likeness is not attached to anything publicly, without your separate written consent.

We will not imply you are connected to us. Sending us something does not make you a partner, adviser, collaborator or customer, and we will not describe you as one.

Your personal data is handled properly. Contact details and anything else personal in a submission are processed under our Privacy Policy and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, used only to deal with the submission, and never sold or passed on for marketing. You may ask us to delete that personal data at any time, and we will — the deletion of personal data is separate from the licence in paragraph 3, which relates to the idea itself.

It will never be used against you. A submission has no bearing on any application you make, any commercial relationship you have with us, or your standing in any of our communities.

If we want it properly, we will say so. Where a submission is genuinely valuable to us, the honest course is an agreement, not reliance on this page. We would rather come back to you and paper it.

How to protect an idea before you share it

  1. Do not send it yet.
  2. Write to legal@blowtrumpet.com describing in general terms what area it concerns — not the idea itself.
  3. We will consider a non-disclosure agreement. If we sign one, everything you then send is governed by it and this policy does not apply.
  4. If we decline, you have lost nothing and you still have your idea.

For anything you believe is genuinely proprietary, this is the only sensible route, and it is a better outcome for both of us than a dispute afterwards.

What this policy does not cover

  • Material submitted by employees, contractors or consultants within the scope of their engagement with Blowtrumpet.
  • Proposals submitted in response to a formal request for proposals, an open innovation challenge, or a programme we have specifically invited you into.
  • Material shared under a non-disclosure agreement that both parties have signed.
  • Work under a written research collaboration or commissioning agreement.
  • Feedback and feature requests about existing products, which we welcome through the channels in our Community Guidelines — note that these are received on the non-confidential basis set out in paragraphs 1 to 4 above.
  • Your campaign data and commercial information. Nothing in this policy gives us any right to publish, disclose or reuse your campaign data, pricing or strategy. That is governed by your agreement with us and our Privacy Policy, and it is never published.

We do want to hear from you

None of the above is a discouragement. We value bold thinking, and we would rather work with people than receive documents from them. The better routes are to join us, to collaborate formally, to tell us about what already exists, or to ask for an agreement first.
