State of Ads

We are part of State of Ads, and we are proud of it

State of Ads™ is Blowtrumpet’s industry connect programme — research, events and open collaboration on the problems advertising has not solved. Ravaki is one of the business fronts that has been part of it from the ground up.

That phrase is doing real work. State of Ads did not arrive as a marketing exercise once the product was finished. The research and the engineering have run alongside each other from the beginning, which is why the demand side of this business looks the way it does.

What it means for an advertiser

The measurement question is being worked on properly. Impact rather than impressions, wellbeing measured alongside commercial outcomes, and frameworks built to survive contact with a finance team. Ravaki is where that work becomes something you can actually buy against.

The formats are tested before they are sold. Interactive and game-based advertising is studied — including for the ways it can go wrong — rather than assumed to be better because it is newer.

You get to argue with us. Roundtables run under the Chatham House Rule, where advertisers and agencies say what is not working without it becoming a sales conversation. Several things in this platform exist because somebody said so in one of those rooms.

Developing right, and marketing with a privacy-first objective

This is the part we are proudest of, and it is worth being precise about.

Advertising has a reputation it earned. The industry’s default answer to “how do we get attention” has been to follow people around the internet, collect what they do, and use it without any meaningful consent. Even the reformed version of that answer is usually *collect the same data, more carefully*.

Ravaki does not run on that model, because Blowtrumpet does not collect the data in the first place. We process no viewer personal data — not minimised, not anonymised, not collected. Creative is composited locally before broadcast, so there is no ad call at all: no tag, no pixel, no SDK, no cookie, no device identifier, no viewer-side request. Targeting is contextual by counterparty — whose audience, never which individuals. A viewer is never a data subject of ours.

We are equally precise about the boundary. We are a data fiduciary for the people we do business with — your billing contacts, creators we pay — and that data is governed by our Privacy Policy under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. The claim is no *viewer* personal data, and we state it exactly.

The hard part is that this removes the easy answers to several measurement problems. We chose to solve those properly rather than quietly keep the pixel. Building it that way was slower. It is also the only version of this we would be willing to defend in one of our own roundtables.

Take part

Bring a brief. Mentor an hour. Sit on a roundtable. Collaborate on research. None of it is a commercial conversation, and the people running the programme will point you elsewhere if you want one.
